Well, the best laid plans n' all that. We have had two major deliveries - two superb Westfire wood burners and our sewage plant - both wrong deliveries. Wrong stove sent (ASP6) and wrong sewage plant sitting here in the yard. Not happy bunny. Today the correct sewage plant (ASP12) was delivered and transported direct to site - no messing about - it's on site! The wrong plant (ASP6) has been bought by Lindsay for his build at a handsome discount so its an ill wind....Our replacement fire was finally delivered but the enamel is scratched on the top, another wait for a touch up spray to sort the problem rather than another return. Despite all the troubles with the wrong delivery I do rate the service at firesonline highly - staff are unfailingly helpful, even if they don't always call back, and their attitude to customer care is very good. They also offer a good range and are very competitive. So that's one recommendation even if they messed up the delivery.
Even worse has been another problem with the digger. I will post a separate blog about our experiences with QF Tractors shortly. But just in case anyone is thinking of doing business with them - WATCH OUT...
DIgger now has hydraulic problems - Mark is sure its just the reservoir dropping low and not the pump but we are out of hydraulic oil so won't know till we buy another 25l tomorrow whether that is the reason we are getting very low hydraulic pressure. Another recommendation goes to Ian Wood of Wood Plant Sales who has supplied all our spares - great service, good price and exceptionally helpful.
Next week James is coming to help us and we will put up the big shed between us and get the roof on.
The Isle of Gigha Music Festival was a fantastic success this year and Karen Matheson gave a truly wonderful performance and then Shooglenifty brought the house down with a high energy set. It is the first year we have gone for two top world class acts and they both enjoyed the gig and will come back and yes we definitely do want them back for what must be Scotland's smallest music festival. Only problem was we lost another four days work on the plot as Jayne and I did up to 18 hour days organising the festival. We have a really good crew who run the event and it is good fun but very tiring. Getting too old for successive 3 a.m. bedtimes..
Now the bottom line is that we really do need to get on with the substructure for the two roundhouses as recently we have been forced to get on with less high priority tasks - so watch this space.
